Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
It has been a busy and rewarding week in Year 2! In Maths, we revisited multiplication and division, focusing on the 2s, 5s, and 10s. The children applied their knowledge by tackling word problems. In English, they worked diligently to complete their termly assessments in writing, grammar, punctuation, and reading comprehension. In Science, we observed and recorded the results of our ‘conditions for growth’ experiment. Meanwhile, in Geography, we continued our ‘Sensational Safari’ topic, exploring the incredible variety of animals that can be found on safari. During our Creative Topic lesson, the children explored different African masks and crafted their own using a range of materials. In History, we learned about Captain Cook and considered how he might have felt returning from his expedition after being beaten to the South Pole. We also discovered more about Lawrence Oates, who was one of the first pupils at Willington! The highlight of our week was Engineering Day on Friday—a fantastic morning filled with creativity, problem-solving, and celebration! We enjoyed fantastic dressing up outfits and had so much fun!
