The school is always abuzz with excitement on special days, and today was no exception. In our STEM program, today was dedicated to Engineering Day, excellently organised by Mrs Stefanovski. She orchestrated a magnificent event for all children, from Nursery to Year 6, focusing on engineering feats from ancient civilisations—the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, and the Chinese. The children were thoroughly immersed, crafting everything from water irrigation systems and Roman villas, to chariots, bridges, pyramids, the Great Wall of China, the Colosseum, amphitheaters, abacus, head-dresses, and catapults. It was truly inspiring to see their engagement and creativity as they built their versions of these ancient marvels. I'm certain they'll be eager to share their experiences when they return home this evening.
In excursions this week, Year 5 enjoyed a successful science trip to the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, while Year 1 had a delightful day at Bocketts Farm!
I briefly considered mentioning last Friday's POW quiz night, but despite having to relinquish our title, it remains a fond memory. It was a fantastic evening, and I extend my thanks to Miss Fraser for the challenging questions and to the POW team for their seamless organisation. I mentioned at the event that I would be contacting the class representatives for a discussion about the future of POW. Please watch for this in your inbox soon.
As we approach the end of term we have much to look forward to, including the upcoming Arts and Music Festival in the last week. We also have music concerts, parents’ evenings, governors' days, and plenty of outdoor learning opportunities ahead. Please keep an eye on upcoming reminders in our newsletter.
I hope you all have a great weekend. KB
