WILLINGTON PREP MUSIC DEPARTMENT
All our tutors are self-employed and set their own fees, usually around £24/5 per lesson. Tutors will send invoices for fees in advance, based on the number of lessons to be delivered per term. Should this number of lessons not be possible, the lessons will be ‘made up’ at a later date during the term (if possible) or credited to the next term’s fees.
The contract for your child's lessons is directly between yourself and the relevant tutor. The school supports the provision of a venue and has recruited excellent staff to ensure the best quality music provision for these optional lessons. Please see 'Staff' heading in the banner above for more information.
A notice period of one half-term is required to discontinue lessons and this notice should be provided in writing to both the tutor and Director of Music. Should the required notice not be received, fees are due in lieu.
Waiting lists operate for oversubscribed instruments, so it is worthwhile to submit your application prior to the start of each term, however, applications during term time can often be accommodated.
Lesson timetables are displayed outside the Music Room each week for children to check their lesson slot. Younger students (and new students) are collected by the tutor at the appropriate time and returned to their class at the end of their lesson as needed. Students from Year 4 and above would normally be expected to attend independently, although it is recognised that some children need support with this. You will also receive email notification (usually a week in advance of the lesson) from your child’s tutor regarding the schedule. Should you discover a clash for any reason (e.g appointment, planned absence from school etc..) please advise the tutor immediately so the lesson time can be changed.
Lessons missed due to unexpected illness/absence of the tutor will be rescheduled. Lessons missed due to unexpected illness/absence of the child will be forfeited. Lessons missed due to not advising the tutor at least 24 hours in advance about planned absence will also be forfeited.
All tutors are able to offer remote lessons should the need arise (via Zoom or another digital conferencing platform). Any lessons during school holiday periods are also optional and can be arranged directly with your child’s tutor.
