My name is Teresa Birmingham, and I am the Gifted & Talented teacher at West Side for grades K-12. I have been an Eagle my whole life as a 1995 graduate but have been teaching here for twenty-two years. I have been happily married to my high school sweetheart, Derreck, for twenty-three years, and we have two children. Faith is in her second year as a CBC Mustang in Conway, and Zack is a sophomore here at West Side. When we have free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and our church youth group as well as reading.

I spent time in both fourth and first grade classrooms before moving to this position six years ago, and I love it! It was a big change for me to work with high school kids as well as elementary, but I think I have been able to make the GT program more beneficial and exciting for everyone with the variety of field trips, community service projects, competitive events, and college visits that we participate in each year. I enjoy seeing the kids explore areas of personal interests and making connections with each other and new material they learn. I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of kids, and I hope that I have done so and can continue to do so in the future.
