Hello Parents!

My name is Debbie Smith and I am part of the 5th and 6th grade team here at West Side Elementary. I am originally from Tucson, Arizona, but I have lived here in Greers Ferry for over 30 years, so this is home to me. As a matter of fact, if you attended West Side during your elementary school career, chances are I might have been your teacher somewhere along the way!

I graduated from Canyon del Oro High School in Tucson, Arizona, and got my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. I spent 3 years teaching in Salem, Arkansas, before coming to West Side. I have taught all the grades and subjects from 2nd to 6th grade, but have found that upper elementary is where I belong. I have a passion for instilling in my students a love of reading and self-expression through writing.

I love traveling, reading, crocheting and knitting, spending time with my family, and I have recently discovered watercolor painting. It is quickly becoming my obsession! But there is nothing I enjoy more than being a teacher. Your child and his or her growth and success are my top priority. Thank you for the privilege of joining you in the education of your child.

Hello parents! My name is Robin Carlton and I am part of the 6th grade team here at West Side Elementary. I am originally from Missouri, but had the pleasure of moving to Arkansas 14 years ago. I live in Prim with my husband, Dano and three amazing children (Danielle, Deeanna, and Lucas). After I graduated from Alton High School, I went on to receive my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.. While working toward my degree at Missouri State I was fortunate to be able to do my student teaching at West Side Elementary. After graduation I filled in as a substitute teacher at WSE, and became a classroom teacher when my youngest child started school.

I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, and I can't imagine doing anything else. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and witnessing how much a child learns during the year! I love flowers, reading, going to the lake, spending time with my family, and helping young minds grow into amazing adults! Thank you for sharing your children with me and giving me the privilege of teaching them!
