Math

  • We have been continuing to review math concepts in class. This week, we went back to finding the area of composite figures, solving multi-step problems, and telling time/elapsed time.
  • We are also working on a group project where students are working in groups to plan a trip to Florida on a $5,000 budget. It was been neat hearing different group's priorities and how sometimes we all need to compromise when planning a vacation. As your child where their group is going and where they plan on eating!

ELA

  • This upcoming week, students will be writing their own "how to survive third grade" letters. Do you remember those from Meet the Teacher? It feels like it was only yesterday!

Odds and Ends

  • End of the Year In Class Celebration: We will be doing a SURPRISE summer countdown in class leading up to summer vacation! We still have some volunteer spots open! I would love to get as many volunteers in the classroom on Thursday because it will be our Minute to Win It rotation day! Please CLICK HERE to sign up!
  • Brown Paper Bag: With the year quickly ending, I will be sending home classwork/items students are able to keep. Please have your child bring in a brown paper bag so they can take home all their items. If you have any extra bags as well, it will be greatly appreciated to share with others who might not have any.
  • Yearbook Orders: Click HERE to order your 2017-18 yearbook on the supply donation page. The cost is $20. We have a limited quantity so don’t delay in placing your order – orders will only be filled while supplies last. Yearbooks will be delivered in June.
  • Whole School Morning Meeting: We are inviting all of our families to join us for the end of year assembly on Tuesday, June 12th.
    • 9:45-10:30 AM - 3rd-5th Grade - Responsive classroom - see first hand the impact morning meetings have had on our students this year.
  • Field Day Dismissal: Wednesday, June 13th will be K-8 Field Day, all grades will dismiss at 12 noon. Your child took home a note that needs to be returned, if they are getting hot lunch on the last day of school.
  • K-5 Field Day Volunteers: WCS Field day is only possible with the support of our volunteers. This provides a great opportunity to spend the last day of school with your student and their friends. Click HEREto sign up and volunteer or donate for this fun end of the year event.
