Math

  • We have continued our work with fractions this week, diving into discussing equivalent fractions, fractions on a number line, and comparing fractions.
  • If you're interested in your child practicing with the SBAC interface and trying out an SBAC style fraction question, click here for a sample question.
  • Math retakes went home in Friday Folders.

ELA

  • We have done many Native American story read alouds and have been looking for patterns in the stories Native Americans tell. This week, we compared and contrasted two stories written by the same author, Frog Girl and Storm Boy.
  • Students continued their work with expert groups for Native American tribes.
  • We have been working on creating our art piece to go with our class' tribe -- the Yokut, which will be on display in the flex room for Open House!

Spanish

¡Hola a todos! This is Maestra Galván, your student's Spanish teacher. Here are a few quick updates for you.

  • We will have a substitute in Spanish class for the weeks of 3/19 and 3/26 while I conduct ELPAC testing for all K-3 English learners.
  • K-3 Students are invited to participate in the International Festival Spanish performance on April, 7th. Please have your student in the gym by 3:50 if they plan to sing with us on stage. We start singing at 4:00. Encourage your student to practice the songs at home: Los Pollitos, Un Elefante se Balanceaba and Los Patitos.
  • Contact me at lgalvan@westlakecharter.com if your 1st - 3rd grade student needs log-in information to practice Spanish at home with Rockalingua.
