ROBINSON Field Day

Dear Families:

On Wednesday May 29th (rain date Friday May 31st), ROB students will be participating in a full day field day!  During the morning portion, they will work together with their classmates and partake in a variety of stations that are healthy for their hearts and muscles.  During the afternoon portion, they will take part in a school-wide dance party!  

Due to the nature of the weather, duration of the day, and the type of stations that the students will be participating in, please try and have your child bring/wear the following items to school with them on field day:

Please Wear The Following:

• Comfortable clothing  

•   -Field Day Shirt Color Kindergarten-Red

• -Sneakers                      

• -Sunscreen (Lotion only, no spray)

• -Bug Lotion/Wipes

What to Bring:

• -Water Bottle (Please label)                                          

• -Plastic Bag With Extra Clothing To Change Into Due To Water Station

• -Hat

• -Please put sunscreen on your child before they come to school that day

In keeping with our standards for safety, field day will not be open for spectators.

Eric Carle Author Study

During the month of May we will begin our next author study of author and illustrator, Eric Carle.    Mr. Carle was an author and illustrator of many children's books.  We will be having a paint day on Friday as a kick off to this new unit. On our painting day we will be using Eric Carle's painting techniques to make our own papers for our own books and illustrations. .  As I am sure you know, Eric Carle is the author and illustrator of numerous children's books.  We will be  spending a lot of time reading his books this month.  Many of our math, science and ELA activities will be connected to these stories.  We will also use many non-fiction books during this unit to find out about the insects and animals that are characters in Mr. Carle's stories.     Below I have included the link to Eric Carle's website and museum in Amherst, MA.  (This could be a great summer day trip for your family)

Painting Day in K

May 17, 2024

Friday, May 17th is a Painting Day in Kindergarten!   We are beginning our author study of Mr. Eric Carle.   To fully immerse ourselves in the study we are going to paint like he does!  Please have your child wear clothing that you won’t mind them getting paint on.  Please send in an apron or an old button down shirt for a smock as well.  Thank you!

Science

We have started a science unit on plants and animals. To begin this unit we had a lesson on the difference between living and non- living things.  Students learned that there are three main traits that all living things have:

1. Living things need nutrients (food/water). 

2. Living things can reproduce (make little things that look like themselves).

3. Living things grow.
