UFLI Foundations

UFLI Foundations is an explicit and systematic program that teaches students the foundational skills necessary for proficient reading. It follows a carefully developed scope and sequence designed to ensure that students systematically acquire each skill needed and learn to apply each skill with automaticity and confidence. The program is designed to be used for core instruction in the primary grades or for intervention with struggling students in any grade.

Handwriting

Welcome to Handwriting Without Tears

Good handwriting is one of the foundation skills of language development. As handwriting skills are developed, students will focus on content rather than on the mechanics of letter and number formation. As children gain handwriting mastery, their writing becomes more fluid and automatic, so they can write with speed and ease.

The Handwriting Without Tears program was developed by teachers, administrators, and occupational therapists. It is the combination of many successes of the young writer.

The program begins with capital letters and numbers. It then moves forward to lowercase letters. The children use blocks, a small chalkboard, and a booklet. These various tools using tactile and kinesthetic ways of learning help the child to form their letters and numbers correctly. There is also a a set of songs that comes with the program. A favorite song is “ start your letters at the top”.
