The release of growth hormone (GH) is effectively stimulated by supplementation of the peptide CJC-1295. The C-terminus of CJC-1295 has a covalent addition of maleimidopropionic acid group which is what adds to the unique properties of the compound. By addition the covalent attachment to the C-terminus, the compound is able to easily bind to plasma proteins, CJC-1295 most commonly binds to albumin. With the covalent conjugation of the compound to albumin, the peptide has been shown to have a longer half-life.
