Social Emotional Learning
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBiS) is a Vermont program dedicated to creating school-wide systems to support students socially, emotionally, and academically.
At KES, our students, teachers, and staff are committed to creating a positive and supportive school environment. Our school expectations are to be respectful, be responsible, and be safe.

The expectations for students at KES are to be respectful, be responsible, and be safe. We use the Second Step social emotional learning curriculum to explicitly teach, develop, and practice these skills in school and home settings. The curriculum at each grade level focuses on developing skills in the following areas: readiness for learning, empathy, emotion management, problem-solving, and anti-bullying. These important life skills are taught and developed through fun activities, discussions, videos, role-playing, and partner and teamwork.
