The Wayne Township Board of Education recently appointed four administrators for the 2017-2018 school year. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Mark Toback, recently commented, “We are fortunate to have excellent candidates to fill such important positions. The candidates all have something in common. They have a history of holding themselves to the highest professional standards and they all have great prior work experiences that will benefit our school system. I am also pleased to note that two of the four appointees are current school district employees that have been promoted.”

The Wayne Township Board of Education recently approved a $455,000 project that will lead to three new science labs and a variety of electrical upgrades at Wayne Valley and Wayne Hills High Schools. The Wayne Township Board of Education is planning to invest significantly in the quality of district lab spaces. The Board feels it is of the utmost importance students be afforded access to learning environments that stimulate strong growth in scientific thinking and understanding through hands-on learning opportunities. This $455,000 project is the first phase of a multi-year project that will lead to a complete renovation of all high school science classrooms over the next three years.
The district will begin the project by upgrading Physics Rooms 203 and 205 at Wayne Valley High School and a new Life Sciences Lab in Room 241 at Wayne Hills High School. Each of the spaces included in Phase I will get a complete renovation leading to bright and spacious learning spaces designed to promote flexible delivery of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). A key component of the instructional delivery platform is the use of the latest generation of flat screen interactive video displays (two per room) featuring touch screen input.
These first three rooms are intended to function as the “pilot program” for this series of lab improvements. The users of the new Phase 1 spaces can provide important observations based on actual experience that can positively influence the next phases of the project.
This purposeful investment in lab facilities is intended to assure Wayne Township high school students that they will enter the post high school phase of their academic careers with valuable practice in current scientific methods and team problem solving while using the latest technology. In a competitive world, Wayne students will have the advantage.
Future news releases will provide the community with updates on our progress.
All students and staff were given a copy of Fish in a Tree, by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. The books will be read as a school community. Students will be given time in school to read with their classmates and will be encouraged to read at home. The characters and plot will allow everyone at Anthony Wayne Middle School to make meaningful connections with our character education program throughout the school year.
The Wayne Township Public Schools believe that students thrive academically, socially, and personally when they feel safe and respected, no matter their background or beliefs. We are committed to fostering a culture free from bias, bullying and name-calling, where students feel empowered to embrace diversity in themselves and in others. As part of our continued efforts to maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment, we are excited to introduce the No Place for Hate® program to our schools.
