5th grade students at Theunis Dey Elementary School had the unique opportunity to pair with a Google tech professional during Computer Science Education Week. These virtual visits connect students with real tech professionals who can speak to the applications of computer science. Media Specialist, Keri DelloBuono and Teacher Coordinator of Educational Technology Katie Licwinko worked together to facilitate this program. Google's Product Manager, Gary Ling explained his career path and how STEM has influenced his life. He inspired students with his personal story so they would understand the opportunities available to them and be inspired to pursue a Computer Science education. Students were also given the opportunity to apply their coding abilities during the Meet and practiced programming with Angry Birds. The Meet provided an authentic learning experience for all involved.
