Pines Lake School is Recognized by NJSHA

On Thursday, April 28, Pines Lake School was recognized by the NJSHA (New Jersey Speech/Language and Hearing Association) as their Program of the Year. As a community, Pines Lake School is committed to supporting students with AAC (Augmented and Alternative Communication) devices and creating a safe and supportive learning environment for students with communication impairments. Activities, such as communication boards on playgrounds, presentations to 4th and 5th-grade students, and active roles for students with AAC devices in performances, highlight the school's inclusive efforts. This is a building-wide initiative, spearheaded by the district's Speech and Language Pathologists.

Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week

Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week was held from April 25th - 29th. This special week was set aside to recognize those who work with youth during extended school day hours. The week was marked by celebrations to encourage people to thank afterschool professionals who make a difference in the lives of young people in their communities.

During the week, Wayne Township Public Schools' Extended Day parents offered many heartfelt messages about the Caregivers at the nine Elementary Schools. Here are just a few examples:

“I am so grateful and appreciative of the time and care the caregivers give and provide for my children when I have to work late. If it wasn't for this program, I wouldn't be able to work. Knowing my kids are at APT enrolled in this program gives me relief and peace of mind knowing they are in good hands! Everyone in this program is so wonderful!”

“My family would like to show our appreciation to the wonderful Before/After care staff members at Fallon. They always greet us with a smile and are so welcoming regardless of rain or shine! We're so fortunate to be a part of this amazing team of ladies. I, especially, want to give a shout out to Ms. A who is so loving and kind. My daughter only attends aftercare because she said it's so fun! Kudos to the all the Before/After care professionals who truly make a difference!”

“The Caregivers of the JFK Wayne Extended Day Program are really terrific! They treat the children like they are their own, or are their grandchildren. they are all marvelous!”

“Coming out of COVID has been a scary experience for my first grader…. I wanted to try out Lafayette after care at the recommendation of a classmates mother who said her daughter was having a lot of fun. Best decision I ever made. The experience gives him just what he needs to boost his confidence and build trust again. He really has taken a liking to the Caregivers and even does his homework proudly without a fight - a really nice bonus!”

“Although the rewards are not many, I thank you for your patience, hard work and good intentions with our kids. I often hear people say “I want to do something that matters to others, something meaningful!” – and I think your work is one of those type of jobs. Thank you for caring for our children and having them leave with a smile to start their day in school. They are in great hands.”

“The Pines Lake Caregivers take the time not only to help with homework and such, but give positive reinforcement to children when they see them doing something kind. You see a confidence boost within children when they are acknowledged for the good actions they do.”

“We have been using the Before/After Care program at Randall Carter for years! They have always been so kind and compassionate with our boys! We are grateful and thankful to have such wonderful people watch after them and have such an amazing program available! Thank you all for what you do!”

We are so incredibly grateful and blessed to have this Theunis Dey team watching over our children. Your caring spirit is evident. We will forever be grateful.

“The Ryerson Caregivers are absolutely wonderful. They are super helpful and nice."
