On Thursday, February 10th, the Wayne Valley Tri-M Music Honors Society and Multicultural Club hosted Dr. Payton MacDonald of William Paterson University as a guest speaker. Dr. Payton MacDonald is a world-renowned, classically trained percussionist, who has also immersed himself in the study of "Dhrupad," an ancient form of classical music from India. In his presentation to students, he discussed the cultural significance and history of Dhrupad, his development from western classical music to Indian classical music, the key theoretical differences between western and Indian music, and his experiences traveling to India and earning a discipleship under the Dhrupad guru Pandit Dharda Sahai.
