The Wayne Township Police Department, in conjunction with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, will be holding the annual “Operation Take Back” prescription pill take back program in the lobby of Wayne Police Headquarters on Saturday, October 28, 2017, from the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This anonymous prescription pill take back initiative provides Wayne residents with an opportunity to safely dispose of any unwanted, unused, and expired prescription medications in a safe manner. Only prescription pills will be collected. NO liquids and NO needles/syringes will be collected. We recommend that residents empty their unwanted pills from their containers and secure them into a plastic zip lock style bag prior to arriving at headquarters and depositing the pills into the collection box. For any questions, please contact Det. Sgt. James J. Celentano at 973-633-3550.
Randall Carter Elementary School recently collected coins on behalf of the "Unidos Movement for Puerto Rico" from the Hispanic Federation to help Puerto Rico recover from Hurricane Maria.
This charity action came about from a fifth grade student, Nicholas Rubino, discussing his concern for the island and our fellow Americans who are struggling to recover. He brought the idea of having our school help in the recovery to our school counselor, Mrs. Russo, and together they came up with this simple, but impactful way to do something to help. He announced this program before dismissal to the school's entire student body. Change collection boxes were in the main office, cafeteria, and the teachers' lounge from October 10 - October 13th. In only one week, Randall Carter raised $645.00 for the Hispanic Federation’s charity relief efforts! Randall Carter would like to salute their students and staff for continuing to bring these ideas to our community. Given all that is going on in the world, it is encouraging to think that our future generation is already taking the positive steps needed to make our world a better place.
Pictured students (Ella Dikum, Jordan Minardi, Nicholas Rubino, Anya Shah, and Sarah Vastano) all made a significant contribution to the schools collections efforts.
