The New Jersey Association of School Administrators (NJASA), in partnership with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), chose the Wayne Township Public Schools to receive the 2018 Aaron Flanzbaum 21st Century Democratic Heritage Award. The Award will be presented on Friday, May 18th, at the upcoming NJASA Spring Leadership Conference in Atlantic City. The Aaron Flanzbaum 21st Century Democratic Heritage Award recognizes school districts in New Jersey that have demonstrated a commitment to building inclusive school communities with anti-bias learning environments free of discrimination, where all students and staff can flourish. This April, Ryerson Elementary School students participated in the New Jersey Jackals, "Hit the Books" reading incentive program. Students who completed the three necessary reading assignments received two free tickets to a NJ Jackals Minor League Baseball game.
The team mascot, Jack the Jackal, also visited Ryerson Elementary School to get students pumped up for reading!
A.P. Terhune Elementary School celebrated Earth Day on Monday, April 23 with a variety of interesting and educational activities. Each grade level completed projects with the support of teachers and parent volunteers. Kindergarten students used recycled egg cartons, soil, and seeds to create egg carton caterpillars. First grade students created pinecone bird feeders. Second grade students designed terrariums using aquarium rocks, soil and seeds. The third grade students made seed bombs with recycled paper to spread wildflower seeds around the school grounds. The fourth and fifth grade students planted flowers and worked in the Harmony Garden to prepare for the planting of a new tree. The day was organized by third grade teacher, Jim Rapp and parent volunteers, Mr. and Mrs. Cannazzaro, Mr. and Mrs. LaCorte, Ms. Dates, Ms. Tiase, and Ms. Caslander.

The Wayne Education Foundation supports the Wayne Township Public School District by donating all proceeds to fund projects not covered by the school budget. The WEF also provides an important service to families of Wayne and surrounding towns by offering a fun and affordable summer camp program which is held at Wayne Hills High School from July 9 – July 27, 2018.

Safety Town will be offered July 2 - July 27, 2018. The one week program allows children entering Kindergarten in September 2018 to participate in fun activities about safety in their home, community, and school. Registration is open for all four weeks. Online registration for Safety Town volunteers opens April 9, 2018. The students entering the 7th grade - 12th grade are eligible to apply.
