Dear Students, Parents, and Wayne Residents,
Technology creates countless new opportunities for people to communicate. In our case, technology is making it possible for the community to engage in a two-week long discussion about the Wayne Township Public Schools. Not only will you have the opportunity to share your ideas, but you will also be able to consider and rank ideas shared by others. At the end of this process, residents will have collaboratively ranked and identified the best thinking shared during this process.
Once the thoughtexchange is complete, the results will be compiled and reviewed. The information will be used by the school district for a variety of purposes including the exploration of possible goals, development of a strategic plan, and consideration during the budget process.
Your thoughts are valued and we hope you will participate. Please view the short video below for more information on thoughtexchange.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mark Toback, Superintendent of Schools
In 2015, the Wayne Township Public Schools developed and released our first mobile app. While the first app was a success, the district wanted to take advantage of the latest mobile technology and provide enhanced capabilities including an ability to share news and information from a variety of sources in a more visual way. The new app allows parents to connect with school administrators, and it allows for quick and easy access to social media feeds. Our new app also provides access to school-based calendars, news, menus, and the district newsletter. When immediate notification is necessary, the app also allows for push notification of important district and school announcements.
Our next generation app is available from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (I-Phone). Search for "Wayne Township PS".
On Thursday January 25th, the SciTech Student Association at Wayne Valley High School hosted a STEM Symposium called "A Night to STEM-Member." This included a full panel of professionals from IBM, Makerbot, Lockheed Martin Sikorsky, Koch Supply and Covance Solutions. Student Kara Celi organized the event and served as master of ceremonies and moderator for a panel discussion. Each of the panelists shared their stories about their careers in STEM, answered questions, and spent time with the students and parents during a networking session. Students provided additional entertainment by racing their 3D printed derby cars against traditional pinewood derby cars. Girls Who Code shared information on other organizations that help girls pursue STEM careers.
A Kindness Tree was placed at the front door of Anthony Wayne Middle School. The leaves on the tree had messages of encouragement and kindness created by the students. Aligned with the theme of Anthony Wayne's Character Education Program, 180 Days of AWesome, students are continuing to CHOOSE KIND!
