The Department for Education have recently released their findings from an invesigation into the link between attendance and attainment for pupils at the end of Year 6. It has shown a clear correlation between attendance and how well children achieve in school. For every 5% drop in attendance, fewer children reached the expected standard at the end of KS2.
Well done Woodpeckers with our best attendance last week of 97.3% with Hedgehogs chasing them very close with 96.1%. We then had Caterpillars and Otters with over 94%.
Woodpeckers are leading the way with the overall attendance for the year with 96.1%. With the sun coming out and temperatures warming, hopefully everyone will be feeling happy and healthy and we can have a really strong second part of the year.
I must have jinxed it with hoping for a date of 1st May. After an unforeseen blip, it is now more likely to be the 1st June. I will update when the date is confirmed.
Matt Ridout, the father of our pupil Amelia who sadly passed away in 2022, has started a petition to try and prevent further deaths arising in similarly tragic circumstances. The link to the petition is given below:
This Friday we will be coming off timetable and learning all about the Islamic festival of Eid that comes at the end of the month of Ramadan. The children in Early Years will be moving between the Caterpillars, Butterflies and Grasshopper classrooms and accessing a variety of activities. And Years 1-4 will move between the upstairs classrooms, having different teachers delivering different activities in a carousel.
Thank you to everyone who donated to the Comic Relief's Red Nose Appeal. Through our Just Giving site we raised £181 and the appeal overall raised over £34 million. Our Just Giving page will stay live for a little while longer so if you still want to donate, you can do.
