Bullying is an ongoing and intentional misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behavior. These behaviors intend to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm. It can involve an individual or a group misusing their power, or perceived power, over one or more persons who feel unable to stop it from happening.
Types of of Bullying
Physical bullying is when bullies hurt their targets physically. This might be shoving, tripping, punching, or hitting. Any form of touching that a person does not want can be bullying and possible sexual assault.
Verbal bullying is taunting or teasing someone.
Psychological/Emotional bullying is gossiping about or excluding people to make them feel bad about themselves.
Cyberbullying is when bullies use the internet and social media and say things that they might not say in person. This can include sending mean texts, posting insults about someone on Twitter, or making rude comments on their Instagram pictures. Cyberbullies also might post personal information, pictures, or videos designed to hurt or embarrass someone else.
Cyber bullying is sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false or mean content about someone else through the use of computers, cell phones and other electronic devices.
There are 8 different types of cyberbullying:
Gossip: Posting or sending cruel gossip to damage a person's reputation
Exclusion: Deliberately excluding someone from an online group
Impersonation: Breaking into someone's email or other online account and sending messages
Harassment: Repeatedly posting or sending offensive rude and insulting messages
Cyber Stalking: Posting or sending unwanted or intimidating messages which may include threats
Flaming: Online fights using electronic messages with angry and inappropriate language
Outing and Trickery: Tricking someone into revealing secrets or embarrassing information which is then shared online
Cyber Threats: Remarks on the internet threatening or implying violent behavior and/or displaying suicidal tendencies
