INTENT

"LOCALLY AWARE AND GLOBALLY APPLIED"

The Intent at our Academy has been designed in consultation with all staff and students. The following attributes were unanimously identified as being essential to develop in our young people to enable them to lead a full and fruitful life.

We feel it is important for our young people to learn about their local context in order to unlock their understanding of national and international issues.

Our Academy curriculum prepares young people to be:

OUR CURRICULUM -

LEARNING HANDBOOKS

We have dedicated a lot of time to ensure that our Academy curriculum is well suited to meeting the needs of all of our learners and that they have access to quality resources available allowing them to take ownership of their own learning.

Our Learning Handbooks have been designed to give our community a clear understanding of how our curriculum is constructed and to contain a comprehensive breakdown of exactly what our students are learning.

For your convenience, we have separated our KS3 curriculum into individual year group (Years 7, 8, and 9) booklets and have our full KS4 curriculum within one booklet, but separated into year group sections. We have also separated the curriculum into termly content; i.e. each year group will have an Autumn, Spring, and Summer booklet. Our Autumn and Spring booklets are available below.

HOW HAVE WE CONSTRUCTED OUR CURRICULUM?

We started the review process for our curriculum on the research in curriculum shared by Ofsted in December 2018.

As a result, our new Curriculum is based on a Plan, Deliver & Review cycle.

We have continually structured our school calendar to effectively review our new curriculum throughout the year.
