Reading Across the Curriculum Timetable

Reading Support Timetable

Accelerated Reader is used to help encourage reading for pleasure.

After your child has finished reading a book, they are able to log in to their own Accelerated Reader account to take a quiz on the book.

They can take a quiz during their Drop Everything and Read lesson, which is scheduled in our newly refurbished library, at least once every fortnight. They can also log in at home to take a quiz. Click HERE to be redirected to Accelerated Reader or click on the logo.

If your child scores 85% or above in a quiz, they are given a Golden Ticket which goes into a box for a prize draw.

Every book they take a quiz on is analysed by Accelerated Reader. The computer software calculates how many words your child has read. If they read over 1 million words in a year, they are invited to an awards celebration with Mr Collier.

Every half term a STAR test will be taken.

This is a computer-adaptive test of 34 questions which generates your child's reading age. These tests are taken under exam conditions to ensure that results are accurate. Reading ages are presented in years and months (12:08 is a reading age of twelve years and eight months).
