APPLYING TO WRA
Newcastle City Council remains responsible for processing all admissions to Walker Riverside Academy; therefore all admissions must be completed online through them.

IN-YEAR ADMISSIONS
If your child is wishing to join us from an alternative Secondary School you will need to complete an In-Year application.
* Please note: If your child is already attending an alternative Newcastle Secondary School they will need to obtain a form from their current school office. Only students applying from a school outside of Newcastle can apply using the online form.

TRANSFER PLACES
A 'Transfer Place' applies when a child is moving from Primary to Secondary School.
If your child is leaving their Primary's Year 6 and would like to join us from Year 7 they will need to complete the online application via Newcastle City Council. Please follow the link below to complete your application.

WALKER RIVERSIDE FOOTBALL ACADEMY APPLICATIONS
Your child may hope to join our Academy as one of our Walker Riverside Football Academy cohort.
All applications must still be processed as a Transfer Place by Newcastle City Council and be submitted in line with the timetable above.
SEND APPLICATIONS
Our Admissions Policy, regarding those with SEN is that:
"Children who have a statement of Special Educational Needs (or an Education, Health and Care Plan) which names the school will be admitted to the school."

APPEALS
As with our applications, all appeals must be processed through Newcastle City Council.

IN-YEAR APPLICATION APPEALS
TIME TABLE
Appeals for in-year admissions will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
SIXTH FORM APPLICATION APPEALS
TIME TABLE
The deadline is 30 school days if the offer would have been conditional upon exam results or 40 school days if the offer would not have been conditional upon exam results.
TRANSFER APPLICATION APPEALS
TIME TABLE
You will have at least 20 school days to submit an appeal from the day you received notice that your application was unsuccessful.
The deadline for submitting an appeal in order to ensure that it is heard before the end of the summer term is 1 April 2022.
Appeals submitted within the deadlines will be heard within 40 school days of these dates. You can submit an appeal after these dates but it may not be possible to hear your case until after the summer holiday. Then it will be considered after the panel has already heard any appeals which were submitted within the deadline.
Where possible, appeals arising from late applications will be heard within 40 school days of this deadline or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
Appeals submitted after the deadline will be heard within 40 school days of receipt where possible.
