OUR SCHOOL DOG

MEET THE LATEST ADDITION TO WRA...

This is Gaia; our new school dog.

Joining us in April 2021, she is a Standard Double Doodle (Aussie Labradoodle and Goldendoodle cross).

Her name was inspired by Greek mythology, where Gaia is the personification of the Earth, the ancestral mother of all life, Mother Earth.

The lone scientist James Lovelock wrote in 1979 of the Gaia hypothesis;

“our global ecosystem that functions in the manner of a vast self-regulating organism, whereby all living things collectively define and maintain the conditions for life on earth”.

Ultimately, if we look after Gaia, she’ll look after us.

BUT WHY A SCHOOL DOG?

Gaia will have her own timetable to follow. Her role within the Academy is to support across the curriculum; reading, attendance and punctuality, physical activity, and working with our SND and SCP students.
