All visitors who have not completed a Technology Control Plan (TCP) for door access must sign in on the Visitor sheet located at the building entrance. These visitors must be U.S. Citizens, U.S. Persons, or Resident Aliens and must be escorted to and from locations, including restrooms and conference rooms, avoiding all non-essential areas.
Guest passes are available for unique circumstances involving visitors engaging with VTNSI personnel. Please allow sufficient time to ensure guest passes are prepared.
TCP 19-017 governs external door access to RB1311 and KWII. Access is granted following successful approvals through a series of steps.
Upon final approval of Attachment A of the TCP, access to RB1311 and KWII is granted based on a defined request time or classification time limit. Extensions are granted as long as Attachment A remains active and in good standing.
Office keys may be assigned once TCP 19-017 is completed.
OESRC manages key assignments for RB1311. Please visit the OESRC website for details.
Building access is granted upon successful completion of TCP 19-017. VTNSI Operations will activate access privileges in the Hokie Passport system.
All building access is managed through the RF Hokie Passport. Visitors or individuals without their Hokie Passport must sign in on the Visitor Access sheet. At the discretion of OESRC or VTNSI Operations, temporary badges may be issued for short-term use. Depending on many variables at each stage, this process can take, on average, 3 to 5 days. Please see the appendix for a detailed Process Workflow for TCP and Building/Lab Access.
If you request the use of guest passes, please submit a ticket to nsifacilities@vt.edu. A Guest Pass(es) can be issued for short-term use.

The kitchen is shared with other building occupants. Please adhere to the following guidelines:
Clean Up After Yourself: Ensure you clean up after yourself in the event food or food-related issues are left in the kitchen.
Dispose of Trash Properly: Place all trash in the designated trash cans.
Refrigerator Maintenance: Regularly check and remove any food before it spoils to keep the refrigerator clean.
Respect Others: Be considerate by keeping shared spaces clean and organized. Do not use or eat items that are not yours without the owner's permission.
Daily and Short-Term Food Items: To prevent clutter, please ensure that daily or short-term unused food items are removed or discarded at the end of the day or, at a minimum, at the end of each week.
Long-Term Food Items: For long-term items like condiments, sauces, dressings, and coffee creamer, labels, and markers will be provided for employees to write their names and the date they placed the item in the fridge. This helps identify ownership and track how long items have been stored. Operations will discard items not identified with an owner and a date at the end of each month.
“Smell something, say something”: If something smells badly in the refrigerator, say something. If the item can be easily identified with a name, contact the individual. If there is no name or the questionable item cannot be identified, please send a message to nsifacilities@vt.edu.
