Symbiosis is a close relation between two different species that live in relation with each other for some time. In a symbiotic relation, at least one species gains benefit, but in some cases, both species benefit. It is an essential phenomenon in the life of species as it helps species survive, get food, and remain protected in the environment. Symbiosis is a positive phenomenon for species and can be negative as well based on the impact on different species.

There can be different types of symbiotic relationship patterns. There are three such patterns. They include mutualism, and then there is commensalism and parasitism. An example for mutualism can be how bees and plants benefit each other. The bees are there for their benefit to have nectar from plants. But as they have nectar from plants, pollen sticks to their bodies, and then they transfer it to other plants. This way, plants are seeded, and thus plants also benefit. Commensalism can be another type of symbiotic relationship. This can be explained through examples of barnacles that generally dwell on whales. Barnacles get a safe environment where they can eat plenty as the whales swim through water. Their function brings no benefit and no harm to the whales. The last type will be parasitism. This symbiotic relationship can be explained with examples of ticks and dogs.

When we think of Taiwan as a habitat, there are factors which limit to what extent the human population in Taiwan is able to develop. One of those factors is land use. It is a small region, mainly consisting of mountains, which means it is incapable of holding a lot of land to be utilized through the process of construction, farming, and road construction. Moreover, as its human population grows, land gets congested.

Natural resources such as freshwater and food are also a limiting factor. Taiwan has to source all the water it needs from rainfall. This can be a limiting factor are consider the droughts that can lower the amount of water for human and food consumption. Again, the production of food is a limiting factor considering the lack of arable land. Pollution from natural resources such as air and water can have negative effects. Air and water pollution can have negative effects on human health and lower the level of life to the extent that it would not be able to support human life. Finally, natural disasters such as typhoons and earth quakes can lower the support for human life.
