First, I did my best on the placement test, but I expect to have more time to write my answers. I'm not quite surprised to be able to use a calculator because I'm an old student at VIS. For me, the calculator helps me save time on the test. I don't need to waste time calculating the answers, and I get more time by using the calculator. I forgot about how to calculate mean and median, so I'm a bit struggling there. I think the first week of math was great, the game, and some teamwork improved my communication skills. Also I would like to have more game in class.
I think Week 2 was easier than Week 1. In Week 1, we had to write a lot of zeros on the worksheet because we were learning about number names. That was not very fun. Week 2 was better because Mr. Francis gave us more games to play in class. The games helped me enjoy math more. This week, I worked with new classmates. I learned many things from my teammates. One person showed me how to use prime factorization to solve problems faster. That was very helpful. I think working with different people helps me make new friends and learn in new ways.I feel a little bit nervous about Project 1 because it sounds hard. But I think I can do it if I focus and work well with my group. I was also surprised and happy that we had a reward system and played two games on Friday. That made me feel more excited to do my work.I have two goals for next week: the first goal is to make zero mistakes in GimKit. The second goal is to pay attention in class and not talk during lessons.I will try my best to focus, follow the rules, and learn from my classmates. I want to be ready for harder math later this year.
I learned how to calculate squared, and square roots. I also recognize the operations with decimals and rational numbers. My favorite part is GImkit, as always. Math is my favorite subject, but I think teacher can make this class not to cringe, and pressured, too much work that are not able to be completed in a bit of time is too difficult for us to handle it.
In week 4, we learn about decimas and fractions, and the question told us to convert both numbers. The rule I used to do if it's converting decimal to fraction, I will turn the base number to the power of 10 depending on how many decimal places, and if it's transforming the fraction to decimal, I will divide the numerator to the denominator. And for the addition and subtraction, I will turn the denominator to the same number. I always use calculator to assist me so I can save up more time. I don't have to remenber the tip because I always do like this. If I'm teaching someone, I would first tell them the method and give them practice so they can do it by their self. I don't need classmate to help me, so I'm the one helping classmate.
I think I do worse than I thought, I think the main reason is my calculations have errors in it. After I review my answers I think I have a little bit improved on math. Other than the test, I think this week is easier than I think. For now I think math are challenging and waiting me to pass pass it.
This week, I remembered how to calculate decimal division and multiplication. I think I can identify the concept in the note.In teams, we distribute the work, and we work very well together. I want to make a monopoly game in Genially. I don't know if it's possible, by the way. I think the best GimKit game is Don't Look Down, it's because Don't Look Down includes a leaderboard, it has comparability, so player will try hard and gain more knowledge.
I think we should slow down at the study guide, we got too much work to do in a little of time. I think writting note can't really improve my Math because I will only review it rarely, mostly cause by limited times. I think the instruction is very clear, including the steps. I think the quality of the worksheet is enough, not too much and not too less. I want more group work for us to communicate and meet new people. I think teacher can slow down progress, wait until we master a topic, or give us enough time to complete an assignment. I think I could try to catch up, and complete the work faster in class, and ignore the time limitation.
After I read through my week 1 reflection, I think Math is similar then what I expected. But I hope we can have more GimKit, but everythings works well. I think the examples is pretth good, it helped us to understand the algorithms I think we can have more of them. For now, Chapter 5 started easy, I don't if it's hard at later, but I think for now, it's easy for me.I've working a lot at Study guide, we've completed chapter 1, 2. My teammates also work on the Study Guide but I want them to be more initiative, not always waiting for me to remind them. I like so far on GSP, after looking at my previous work, I felt proud of myself. I think the workbook is good, last semester, we are using worksheet, so it's hard to organize, but workbook is easy to organize and stored.
I think I'm ready for the SLC, it's because I make a note with list of things I'm talking about. I think I also understood Compound and Simple interest very well. For quiz2, I think I need some recap to help me remenber and compared to chapter 5, chapter 6 is way more easy than I thought. Study guide is a bit hard, but I think we can do it ! I think team work in our group has been improved, now we will care about all teammates and complete all work together. The only thing we can improve is to work faster. We will chat while in work, so I think we should stay focus and stay away from the distraction.
I think I did better than what I thought in the test. After this test, I think I imrpoved in Math by focusing on class.I think the test difficulty is same as I thought, not so hard, but also not easy as well. I think the practice worksheets help out in the test, it helped us used to it in the test, we already know how to calculate the answer so the practice worksheet is helpful. I think we have enough time for the quiz, just need a bit more time to check my answer. I think if we do mathematic in chinese, I can get a better grade, but because of this I need to practice my English to also did well on English mathematics.
I think we did a very good job at presenting the project. We have a complete presentation and study guide. But I think we can try to increase our voice like the volume we talk in general. But overall, I think our group did a really great job on decorating presentation. I think the instruction is pretty clear and I think we have enough time to complete the project. I think we follow the instruction structure while we are doing the presentation. I think we could include more words in best section, and we did a great job at designing the presentation. I think is good because of the group, but "if" it's good because of me, I will feel proud and glorified. If it's good or bad because of my teammates, I will feel motivated and try to also participate more to don't let teammates do all the work, or help them if they are struggled. I learned that teamwork is genuinely important because if you are doing all your work by yourself, then it's not efficient, and you will feel extremely tired.
I don't think we can finish the board game on time, but I'm pretty excited about it. We have too much work to do at the same time, so the schedule might be a bit crowded. We completed the Google summaries, but we are still working on the flashcards, the Canva book, and the board game. I probably won't enjoy this project because it requires too much work to be completed in a limited amount of time, and I don't think I am very creative in this project. These four projects involve making a study guide game, preparing questions for the board game in the flashcard, and creating the Canva book. I learned that we need to be firm so teammates will do their work; if you're always nice, teammates may ignore your comments. Overall, the experience isn't bad, but it's not as good as I expected. I think we should have more balanced contributions, and teachers could try to assign work to each student to help ensure a fair distribution. I feel the study guide didn't support me much on Quiz 2; I did well on Quiz 2 because I listened and focused in class, not because of the study guide. However, I think I understand English and Mathematics better now. We need more time to work on Project 1, so I always work on it at home, and I believe we must do Project 1 at home or else we won't be able to complete it. I think I can do a presentation about the board game and the Canva book. Unlike before, I believe presentations are more effective and educational because listening is more impactful than just writing.
I think I'm prepared for the final exam, I trusted my score will be good. I miss Gimkit a lot, I'm happy to play the Gimkit again. I use notebookLM to help me practice, I put the topics in, and it will generate multiple choice for me to practice. I think I currently don't need study guide to help me because I have a better tool to use. Our teammate didn't changed a lot, but Cooper joined us since we finished project 1, I think I will choose responsible teammate next time.
I didn't face any interesting things in the practice; it's just practice, and yeah, there are a lot of real-life situations in math. I'm able to help my friend in problems they don't understand, but if I don't understand, only teacher can help me. Now, I feel like Math is a very fun subject, the difficulty is enough. I think I have enough time to complete the task but no time to check if it's accurate. I like sdolving problems in my own and to verify it, But I prefer teacher to do the problem first then we try.
Looking back to Week 1, I think in that time, I felt overconfident, but now I have the potential of confident. The switch from quick step question to multi-step question doesn't affect me a lot but takes more time from me, but I felt prepared for the final exam. The thing I'm most proud of is the Quiz 2, because I got a very high score from it, this shows that my hardworking got paid back, and motivate me to work harder. It was much easier to read mathematical equation in English compared to week 1, but I still couldn't understand all of them. If I can go back to week one, I will advice myself to study more on the large number topic, because I hate that part so I somehow skipped that a little bit. For next semester, 1 of my goal is to get a total score of 90 or higher.
Looking back on the semester, I learned a great deal of new material, including compound interest, simple interest calculations, prime factorization, simplifying calculations, and many other concepts. I would like to improve on Operations With Fractions because I think fractions are one of the hardest topics I ever had. If calculators are blocked, I might spend more time on calculating fraction-type questions, to imrpove I will find some worksheets to practice and also write notes about how to calculate them. This semester, I learned that teamwork is very important because it helps me learn faster and understand math better. When I work with classmates, I can share my notes and study methods. After Project one also helped me realized that everyone needs to be responsible to do their part, or the work becomes unfair and tiring. I also notice that sometimes you need to be firm with your classmates so they will focus and contribute. My goals for next semester are to get a grade of more then 85% and also not to be lazy in studying for the quizzes. The three topics, algebra, statistics, and geometry, are the topics we will have next semester. I'm famaliar on all of them, I've learn geometry and algebra in my old school, and statistics in the last year of VIS. The topic I know the least about is probably statistics, I think that is kinda annoying and complicated so I hate that kinds of questions.
