I’m really looking forward to being part of our PBL teams and making meaningful contributions. I hope to work with enthusiastic and supportive teammates so we can achieve our goals together. One small but important goal for me is to improve my English throughout these PBL classes by participating more in discussions and learning from my peers.
I've learned about working with my teammates, trustworthy searching resources, and how to create my portfolio so far. Also a some SEL skills, and we've doned a personality test, and discovered types of stress. For environmental science, I basically learned about pollutions and natural environment, like water pollution or climate changes.
In this project, we led to a Canva presentation and introduce our group driving question: "How can we build a water filter to purify dirty water for people without access to affordable clean water ?" During this project, we focused on real world impact that water filter made and developing ideas for our production. The presentation went well, as it was noted in the peer review sheet, but we felt nervous at the first. Because of that, my teammate's eyes will keep looking at the screen. After noticing this, I want to make my future presentation more confidence so the presentation will be more engaging for the audience.
This section was important for planning. We created an online digital model of our water filter system, which is our blueprint, it included a clear list of materials, and explanations for each filtering component. And included a step by step instructions for how to build the filter. Making this digital model was a important part of the process because it gave us a clear picture of what the result would look like. It also helps us to understand the structure and construction methods before we started to build it out, which reduced mistakes and made the steps go more smoothly.
In this part, we moved from planning to hand working. As a team, we built and tested our water filter, and we are able to clearly see one important result, it worked. Throughout this process, we gained a strong understand of how a water filter operate and how it works behind it. One major thing for the future is that we can collect more dirty water so we can run more times. This will help us test the water filter's long term performance and durability. Overall, the teamwork and problem solving in this stage made it my favorite part in the entire PBL class this semester.
The most useful and agreed feedback I received is to talk louder and clearly. I agreed with this because my voice is a bit messy and unclear so I need to improve in this section. This feedback is given by some classmates. After I recieved the feedback, I tried to talk louder and clearly, this make my presentation experience better.
One piece of feedback I recieved in Mock exhibition is to order our stuff well, according to the peer, he thinks our table is too messy. I will use this feedback to imrpove our table organization. And try to repress people from bothering the presentation.
The SDGs for our "Water Filter" project are SDG 6 and SDG 13. These SDGs are related to water, and the problem we are solving is water pollution. Fixing water pollution can help decreasing the plastic waste by offering clean water sources, and lowering the energy that is used on cleaning the water, these reason makes our product related to SDG 13. Cleaning the water can make it usable and drinkable, which relates to SDG 6. I think our product is helpful to achieve those SDGs.
I've learned about 3 pollutions about environmental science, air pollution, water pollution, and climate changes. Those pollution will affect about the environment and make a big impact to the earth. Air pollution is about pollution in the air, like the dust in the air. Water pollution is the pollution in the water like sewages. Climate changes is about the extreme weather, sea level rising. We've also learned about the Pm2.5, a particular type of particles. Other than these, Environmental science is about natural problems.
For now, we've learned about something in Social Emotional Learning, which is SEL. SEL makes my emotional management better, and better control my feelings when I felt furious or sad. We also learned different types of stress, stress is a type of emotions, too much stress can make you feel very negative and weakness, but a little bit of stress can motivate and make you catch up. In school I'll normally apply SEL when I felt anxious, or frustrated. I will take a deep breath and try to calm myself down. SEL is an improtant education that everyone should know because it can help us avoid some accident cause by extreme emotions.
In the exhibition, I learn how important collaborate with our teammate is , we distribute our work and stay organize, and help each others when presenting. I also realized that speaking loud and clearly help the audience understand our ideas better. And the feedback tells us to keep our table clean, which shows us we need to organize our material better and remove unimportant stuff. I think our interactive activity went pretty well on exhibition because we didn't forgot to send out gift and also everyone understood the rules given by us, it shows that we are really careful when we treat the interactive activity. I work with my shift team by sharing work and supporting each other. When we face a problem, another teammate will help us to present, and we are also responsible, we come back early just to not be late. For the whole team, we discuss who to say what before presenting, and we listen to others idea and reply to audience together. For the improvement, the first thing I want to improve is our credibility, I want to bring more evidence to the exhibition because some people don't trust our result, so we need to prove them. The second improvement is to memorize the content better, in the exhibition, I almost forgot the learning journey because the learning journey is too long, so next time I will review it for a week before exhibition to help me memorize it. Lastly, I want to improve our project 2, online sketch, because we have some mistakes on that poster, which is some order of the materials and the SDGs we used, to improve that, I will double check if there's any changes in google classroom or from teacher's feedback. And a skill I want to get better on is to talk clearly, because my voice is a bit too deep so it's hard to understand my text, to improve it, I will try to talk in front of a mirror to help me practice my volume, and to make my voice not blurry anymore, it can also help me to practice eye contacts and body languages when I look myself in the mirror.
