Week Beginning 13th July 2020: This week we will finish our Reconciliation module.
Watch the video of the story of Jesus and the Sinful Woman
Once you have watched the video, think about the questions and talk them over with an adult.
Where did this take pace?
Who was at the dinner?
Did you think that Jesus expected this visitor?
Why do you think the woman came to Jesus?
What do you think was the reaction of other people in the room?
What was the reaction of Jesus?
What did the woman do that Simon had failed to do?
Week Beginning 6th July 2020: This week we will continue with our Reconciliation module.
This week we are looking at the story of Zacchaeus. Begin by watching the video to the left.
What did Jesus do for Zacchaeus in the story? What is reconciliation all about?
Your task for this week is to draw 3 pictures of Zacchaeus. One of him before he met Jesus, one when he was with Jesus and one after they had met.
Next to or around each picture I would like you to write What Zacchaeus was like at those times, how he might have been feeling and what he might have been thinking.
What did Jesus say that tells you he forgave Zacchaeus?
Don't forget to add the act of contrition to your prayers. (look at the bottom of the page.)
Week Beginning 29th June 2020: This week we will continue with our new module in RE - Reconciliation.
This week we will look at the parable of the Prodigal Son. Begin by watching the video to the left.
Jesus sometimes used parables, or stories, to explain things to people. Such as helping them understand the consequences of their choices. Think about the choices each of the characters made. (The first Son, the second son and the father.) Did hey make good or bad choices? What were the consequences?
Your task this week is to draw and/or write the parable of the Prodigal Son from a different point of view. Choose either the Son who stayed behind of the Father and write the parable from their point of view.
Do we all need forgiveness sometimes?
Should we always forgive others?
Don't forget to add the act of contrition to your prayers. (look at the bottom of the page.)
Week Beginning 22nd June 2020: This week we will begin a new module in RE - Reconciliation. Over the next few weeks we will be learning all about reconciliation and forgiveness.
1.)We will start our new module by thinking about ourselves. Think about the following questions - Are you the same as everyone else? - What make you special? - What do we have in common?- Whose image were we made in?
2.)God's gifts to us God gave us all the gift of life and the wonderful gift of a relationship with him. He also gave us the gift of choice. (You could talk about the creation story with an adult and think about what choices were made in the garden of Eden.) We make choices everyday, sometimes 100's of them. These could be choices like, what to have for breakfast or which T-shirt to wear or they could be choices such as what to say when somebody upsets you or whether to share with your brother or sister or even choosing to say your prayers. Some of these choices are more important than others. Below is your task for this week.
Your task this week is to make a list of all of the choice you make in a day (as many as you can think of.)
You can present this in a mind map or however you like.
When you have your complete list think about which of the choices you have made are important ones. (You could circle the most important choices in one colour and the least important choices in another.)
The next question to think about is which of your choices today were good and which were bad. - Discuss this with an adult. If you have made any bad choices today what could you do about it?
The final thing that I would like you to think about and discuss with an adult this week is whether or not any of your choices affect other people.
3.) Final Thoughts.
We have been given the gift of choice by God and it is our responsibility to try our best to make good choices. We all make bad choices at times but what is most important is that we recognise when we have made a bad choice and do our best to make it right. If we have made a bad choice that has hurt somebody else we can apologise to them and seek forgiveness. Sometimes we may even make bad choice that hurt ourselves. Who else should we seek forgiveness from? How can we do this?
It is important to know that we can always seek forgiveness from God when we have made the wrong choices. We can do this through prayer. God will always forgive those who seek forgiveness with an open and honest heart. When we say sorry we should always mean it.
Below is the act of contrition. Add this to your prayers this week.
