We are continuing with our work on measurement this week.
I hope you enjoyed exploring measurement around your home last week and managed to calculate some perimeters!
If you click on the sheets to the left there is some more perimeter work for you for to start of with, then scroll down to see the next activity.
As we have discussed in school we measure length in millimetres, centimetres and metres.(mm,cm and m) Can you convert between each of these? - All the information is on the sheet!
This week we are focusing on measurement: Perimeter
Perimeter is the distance around a shape.
Look at the shape to the left. it is measured in cm. We would add all of the sides together. So 7+7 =14 and 3+3 =6
14+6=20
so the perimeter is 20cm.
Your task this week is to measure the perimeter of objects and places in your house. Use your measuring skills from last week and this knowledge of perimeters to help you.
This week we are focusing on measurement: length and distance.
Click on the picture to head to the BBC bitesize website There are 2 learner guides for you to look at and several class clips. Take a look at these. (One of the class clips is a quiz, join in and see how you do!)
If you have a ruler of a tape measure at home I would like you to get measuring! Measure things around the house and garden. can you measure them accurately? Is it best to measure the items in mm, cm or m?
Why not estimate which items are bigger or smaller before measuring them to check!
