Trees Arrive From Buckingham Nursery … Too Late!!

By Reg Bingham

Jessie, Josie, Dave, Nigel, Grahame & I turned up at the garage at  09.44 for the tree planting, but John walked straight to the planting  site so didn't know about the no-arrival of the trees. This was  unfortunate and we had to find alternative employment and decided to  go Pound Lane.

Dave brought a bag of small trees from his garden to include in our  planting. He was so upset that we weren't planting today that he  threw them on the floor and jumped up and down on them. I had to  throw a cup of water over him to cool him down. Then Josie took him to  the orchard and helped "heal them in" until next week, which calmed  him down further.

Then we all went to Pound Lane to catch up on a few jobs. Clearing the pond of a few bits and bobs, raking the path and cutting some overhanging branches that looked a little unhealthy, which provided me with a good barrow full of logs.

Josie planted some irises in the pond bank that Dave brought from his pond.

Unknown to me Jessie decided to wear stylish headgear but no-one offered a prize for the best one. We left after having coffee by the bench.

Dave and I then went back to the orchard to dig up a few trees that  we remembered needing replanting on the R B O site, so now they are  ready to pull up easily next week. Dave was completely calm by this time.

Ten minutes after getting home the trees arrived from Buckingham  Nursery, I was so annoyed I jumped up and down on them, but there  was no-one there to calm me down and I had to return to the orchard  to heal them. What a palava!

The day the trees didn’t arrive from Buckingham Nursery.
