This week in my week 4 songwriting goal session I have come up with the main chorus for the song ! I am really pleased with how it sounds and it is rather catchy in my opinion. The chords are the same as the ones in the verse but they are played in a different tempo for variation. The chords C, F and G are repeated throughout every line in the chorus in a quick rhythm.
Because the chords C, F and G are in the same order through the majority of the song, I knew I had to do something to make it sound different in some way. My plan to achieve this was to do little hammer on's on the bottom E string each time I played the C and G. I first came up with the idea because it suits the singing melody everytime I sing the phrase ' Stick With it', you can see an example in the youtube clip I've put in this blog post!
This is the first chorus of the song, it's not very long but this was just to get the first one in, then I'll add another of the same after the next verse and then I'll build up to a double chorus at the end of the song.
In terms of matching this to my ideal job career as a professional musician, I'm always trying to put myself in the mindset of a professional songwriter and so far I have been productive and I'm on target to achieve this goal of writing a song for my Solo EP before a deadline. Working to a deadline is relevant in the music industry because some record labels might not give a songwriter all the time in the world to write songs for new clients so it's good to be productive when and as soon as you can.
Chorus structure:
C F G
"Stick with it,
Don't let it float on by,
Stick with it,
I hope to be by your side."
