Performed live Jack in Metronome
I wrote 'Stick With It' in the recent as a result of a previous project to develop my songwriting and i successfully wrote and composed this song in about 5 weeks. This song is a very nice and again catchy but also fairly simple chords wise, but most of the best songs are. This is another personal song and a song in which the lyrics came naturally to me, that is a songwriters dream. 'Stick with It' is a note to someone to encourage them to not give up on something as it could turn out to be really special. The song describes a time when I went to meet a certain person to try and work things out but I just got the feeling "it was never going to be". Another example of there being true story elements in there is "it reminds of that very place, that was the end of me and you, where we had that meal for two, it was the end of me and you". This was obviously where we met and it effectively was the end of that relationship. I'm pleased with myself with these 3 songs on the EP as i've been able to take note of things that have happened and put them into a song, I can picture a scene with every song on '2020 EP', I'm hoping when people hear the songs they can make their own setting in their heads when they listen.
The song is played with a capo on the 5th fret, I think it's played like this because i was playing another song with the capo on 5th at the time when i first started writing it so I continued with it, I also think the key suits my voice aswell in this song. The main chord progression is C, F and G, this is for the verses and chorus. For the bridges the chords change to Am, G, Em, Am, F, G, Am, F and then G. They're all played as open chords and as you can tell it's a simple sounding song musically but this is what I was aiming for, 2020 Vision is the only complex- ish song chord wise on the EP. My favourite part of the song is second verse as it changes pace a little after the first chorus and it just flows perfectly, along with this part the chorus is my second favourite element. The chorus just swings round with the C,F and G progression and I play a little hammer on with the bottom E string to support the 'Stick with it' singing part. I can picture people really connecting with this song and singing it out loud in a crowd.
