At the halfway point I've looked back over my blog posts and youtube clips and I can comfortably say I am further than where I thought I'd be at this stage of the process, especially my songwriting goal. At this stage looking back over the process of writing my song I could track back and possibly make improvements on certain words where I couldn't at the time as I was on a roll. Overall I haven't found the writing process for 'Stick With It' too challenging, I think this was because I was in a relaxed environment at home and had lots of time and room for error. I have written the chorus for the song and I've mapped out the rest of the structure for the song now, the only other step is another verse.
I've learnt the minor pentatonic scale during this project which I am pleased about. I have used this blog as an excuse to learn it because if it wasn't for this i might not have had the motivation to do it. So logging my process every week has been satisfying to watch. After a few weeks of working on the three main aims I stated at the start of the project I decided to just pursue the songwriting goal. The songwriting goal is to write and complete a whole song and use it for my solo EP. This was the right decision in order to completely focus on writing my new song 'Stick With It'.
The main way I've progressed and improved in this project is certainly my songwriting work ethic. I am glad I've had this opportunity to document my progress on a weekly basis as it shows how I've progressed in a short period of time. This has been the perfect excuse to kickstart my songwriting, I have written some songs already however I've never done it like this, I intend to repeat this process when writing songs and hopefully it becomes sceond nature to me.
My plan from here it to hopefully have the song wrapped after the next songwriting session, or if not that certainly within the next two sessions.
