There a few key points and skills that are essential to becoming successful as a musician, here's a few examples:
Confidence
Confidence is a vital skill to have as a musician. It's what will give you the ability to get up infront of an audience and to perform your music. Having self belief in your art can help build up your confidence to perform live as you want people to hear you and spread the word, the first step of that journey is 'confidence'.
Charisma
This certain characteristic isn't essential but in the past and to the present day within the music industry it has carried certain bands and acts music careers for the better. Examples of this exist in the likes of mega stars such as Liam Gallagher,Lewis Capaldi, Morrissey, Mick Jagger, Suggs and many more. Charisma or a certain charm and appeal that attracts peoples attention and keeps them interested, this is a brilliant thing to have as a musician.
As a session musician the role consists of a variety of things, so it's important to have the certain skills to be able to be succesful in that area, here a few:
People Skills
Being a session musician means you will often be meeting lots of new musicians therefore you will have to interact in a proffessional and friendly manner in order to work together successfully.
Versatility
Being versatile as a session musician will benefit you greatly as you will open yourself up to more projects in different genres. This will also make you more flexible in a studio space and give you a better chance at collaborating with other musicians.
After looking into artist management i found some key skills and steps that can that are needed in order to succesfully get into management:
Strong Communication:
This skill is possibly the most commonly used skill in this job role, this is because as a manager your main role is to be the spokesperson for your artist/band and you need to be confient in that particular area on their behalf.
Public Relations
Public relations is an area that's very important to be confident in as a manager. It will really benefit your artist and yourself if you are able to form mutual beneficial connections with people you come across in the industry, for example gig venues, radio dj's, festival promoters and many more.
