Martin Luther regarded music as essential to evangelical worship. He wrote, “next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world.” Music enables the people of God to offer their praise and to proclaim the Gospel during the worship service and beyond.
Dr. Jennifer Dodd joined us as organist and choir director in September 2014. Jennifer studied voice and organ at Moravian College and graduated with a degree in music education. In 2012, she completed a Ph.D. in music education at Temple University. Jennifer is also the Choir Director at Dieruff High School in Allentown and has been the vocal director for the school’s award-winning musical theater program. Jennifer directs our choir with skill and humor – providing a lovely mix of both traditional and modern hymns and anthems that are a joy to sing.
The choir enhances our worship life from September to the end of May with their weekly offering of an anthem and music leadership during the worship service. The choir is open to anyone age 13 and older. Choir meets at 9:00AM on Sunday mornings to learn new and uplifting music appropriate to the church season. Come, join the choir, and help us make a joyful noise unto the Lord! For more information, contact Jennifer Dodd or the church office.
