The Rev. James R. Hammond accepted the call to serve Blue Church in 2016. Pastor Jim served two previous Congregations. In Schuylkill County, he served the Jacob’s & Outwood Lutheran Church for eleven years. And in Berks County, he served Mt. Zion Lutheran for twelve years. He completed his seminary training at Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary in 1992.

Pastor Jim serves as the faith leader and the preacher of God's Word for our community. He supports our community of faith as we share the good news of the Gospel. With the help of God, he guides our understanding that we are An Easter People, anchored in the life death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Jim officiates at each worship service during the year and presides over communion. He offers a children's sermon, sometimes including his puppet characters, to share the Good News with the children (and adults) in the congregation on the third Sunday each month. He is a member of the choir. Pastor and Janet share their home with their two Siamese cats and several visiting cats from the neighborhood. Diesel and Willow sometimes find their way into Pastor Jim's sermons.
