Big Bang
Dr. M. Sathya Prasad, December 31, 2018, 3:40 PM
Let me tell you all a story,
Exciting one,
That begins with…
"Well, once upon a time…!"
Give me a break, what exactly is time?
And what do you mean “you all”?
What differentiates you and me?
Who created time?
What was it that created the universe?
Big bang?
Everything started from nothing?
Nothing but a speck that cannot be seen!
Nothing it was called since it cannot be seen.
Seen by whom, and with what?
How could you qualify what was not there?
Please don’t ask me.
It was a real something packed into almost nothing.
But that little nothing had in it everything.
That speck of nothing was so dense,
It had more gravity than all black holes combined.
Such a tight knit speck decided to explode – one fine moment.
Excuse me! “One fine moment”?
What exactly means a moment?
Who defined a moment? Please don’t ask me.
The speck was surrounded by an infinite expanse of a much bigger nothing.
This big nothing was the biggest nothing ever created. So, there is something about this nothing.
How could one create nothing? Who told nothing is small?
Who created nothing? Please don’t ask me. I know nothing.
The infinite had nothing in it. Now isn’t that something!
The small nothing (speck, seed, spot) had everything in it…
Yes! Infinite mass and infinite energy, and infinitesimal volume.
Suddenly one fine moment it exploded. Time started.
The little nothing started becoming something
It decided to grow into the big nothing
Energy became matter. But that doesn’t matter.
It is the immaterial that matters.
What apparently does not matter, matters.
Where from did consciousness come?
Where from did life appear?
What is life and what is consciousness?
What is the meaning for my sadness or joy?
What are feelings?
What is ego,
And where would it finally go?
Do these subtleties exist independently or do these ride on matter?
Then does a stone have consciousness?
That which has life should grow and die.
Or rather, grow to die.
Big bang is disorder; explosion is disorder.
Absolute disorder is chaos.
Then how come there is also order?
Apparent order.
My blood count; my body temperature.
Homeostasis.
Speed of light. Absolute zero. Earth’s rotation.
Properties of elements… and so on.
There is order in universe,
And there is disorder as well.
Did disorder come from order,
Or is it the other way around?
If no entropy, then no wastage. No friction.
Perpetual motion.
Uncontrollable speeds.
No birth. No death!
A child would ride down the toboggan at tremendous speed.
Friction helps the child enjoy the slide.
Friction helps the clock unwind slowly.
And out of the hour glass the sand would slide,
Just like a blob of mercury, if there is no friction.
Who said wastage is a waste?
A wave with all its might and fury,
Must dash on the shore and die, to make way for the next one,
That rivals this one in noise, might and fury
Only to dash again on the shore and die.
Death is rejuvenation.
Destruction is not a waste,
So long as being destructive is constructive
Realizing usefulness in uselessness –
Is the second law of thermodynamics
Just as there is immortality in mortality
Life is disorder. Life originates from disorder.
Death is order, since death has no life.
No disorder, no life!
No entropy, no time
No time - no birth; no death
Life depends on disorder!
Who am I and what am I for?
Would I vanish one day, and if so, vanish from where?
Vanish into what?
Erased?
Immortality is possible only if everything is perfect.
What is perfect? Zero entropy?
If life is entropy, then where does the waste go?
Heat sinks into what?
Universe is not give and take. No equilibrium. Entropy keeps increasing forever!
If you don’t agree with me and say, “Nothing doing!”
Understand that this universe is “Nothing’s doing”!
Life lives! Life is alive!!
Oh! I love entropy!!
