The planet the story takes place on is marked by oceanic mountain ranges that make cross-continent travel and trade difficult - and where mountains don't forbid you, sea creatures will. Three major continents and their outlying islands appear on the planet. Halios, to the north, is home to all manner of creatures and magics. Aegoros, at the planet's center, is a surprisingly mild-weathered island where innovation and invention is prized. Eutera, to the south, is a land of warring kingdoms and limited resources. Travel between them is possible, but limited to those with the resources and bodies to fly.
