Walking the strait thorny road of Jehovah God

In Luke 14:27, Jesus summed up the path of the men of faith who walked and will walk after Jehovah God before He became flesh.

And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.  (Luke 14:27 KJV)

If the notable characters depicted in the drama spread over the pages of the Bible are indeed righteous in their walks with Jehovah God, we would think that Jehovah God, the Director, would have given them a perfectly detailed script and spared them from the griefs of improvising to, at least, shield them. However, their path with God was infested with challenges and thorns. No magical carpet has ever been provided to those who already walked the walk. They walked carrying their cross driven only by the lamp of the promise of God (faith) stuck in their minds and hearts. When they fell by fratricide hands, God praised them as righteous martyrs. 

The Characters and their experience with Jehovah God

• Cain

• Abel

• Abraham: had to go to war

• Isaac

• Jacob: wrecked by family problems

• Joseph: took a first class ride to Egypt's 2nd head of state position from being sold as a slave through making jail time.

• 430 years of slavery: the slaves could not have it easy as slave construction workers

• Moses: Moses travelled first class also to Midian, fleeing as a murderer to come go back to Egypt in style challenging Pharaoh to let the slaves go free, just like that.

• The Israelites

• the Kings

• David: even though he was anointed as king, David became a fugitive always in danger of not reigning but he understood his Jehovah God very well.

• The Prophets: we read about their fate from Jesus who testified that they were most likely murdered

• The Apostles

• Those believers to be killed (Revelation 6:10-11)

Cain

It did not take long for the spirit of the Serpent to manifest himself in the conquered minds of the first born of Adam and Eve. The serpent is jealous and blood thirsty. He vowed to destroy God's most prized jewel of the creation. So, he shed the blood of his first victim when jealousy drove the disobedient Cain to murder his younger brother Abel.

What is remarkable in that tragic moment at the dawn of humanity is the unsearchable wisdom of God in dealing with the murder case. It is incomprehensible to my mind that God let the guilty Cain go free and protected him from retribution but did not protect the righteous obedient innocent Abel from the murderous hand of his brother. 

That murderous case is one of the case studies that we can use to get a glimpse into the mind of Jehovah God in His interactions with His most prized creation, mankind. 

What brought about the first murder?

The narrative does not cite any specific ordinance from God that details what was to be offered to God. Nevertheless, we read that Cain offered fruits.

And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.  (Genesis 4:3 KJV)

Abel offered firstborns of his flock and their fat.

And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof.(Genesis 4:4 KJV)

The offering of Abel is implying that the sacrificial system established in the time of the Exodus could have been instituted at the dawn of humanity with the fall of Eve and Adam. Perhaps, Cain did not care to follow the command of God for sin offerings. As a result, God did not accept his offering but the offering of his younger brother.

Genesis 4:4-5 KJ3

(4)   And Abel brought, he also, from the firstlings of his flocks, even from their fat. And Jehovah looked to Abel and to his offering.

(5)   And He did not look to Cain and to his offering. And Cain burned greatly, and his face fell.

Jehovah God spoke [Jesus said that nobody has ever heard the voice of God the Father (John 5:37)] with Cain to reason with him emphasizing the importance of obedience.

Genesis 4:6-7 KJ3

(6)   And Jehovah said to Cain, Why have you burned, and why has your face fallen?

(7)   If you do well, is there not exaltation? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is toward you; but you should rule over it.

Verse 7 is a difficult verse to translate intelligibly to give us a clear understanding of God's point of view on our power over sin.

Why did Jehovah God not protect Abel? Why did He protect Cain?

 [In parenthesis, the disobedience of Adam and Eve did not create evil. Evil already existed. As long as the virus that enables to recognize good and evil was not ingested, they were shielded from the stress of becoming like God.]

Abel

Abel was, unlike his parents, obedient to the voice of God. He offered the sacrifices as commanded by God.
