The annunciation of the conception of Jesus

Luke 1:26-45 KJ3

(26) And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,

(27) to a virgin who had been betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mariam (Mary).

(28) And entering, the angel said to her, Rejoice Mary, one having received grace! The Lord is with you. You are blessed among women!

(29) And seeing this, she was disturbed at his word, and considered what kind of greeting this might be.

(30) And the angel said to her, Fear nor, Mariam (Mary), for you have found grace from God.

(31) And behold! You will conceive in your womb and bear a Son, and you will call His name Jesus.

(32) This One will be great and will be called Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.

(33) And He will reign over the house of Jacob to the ages, and of His kingdom there will be no end.

(34) But Mariam (Mary) said to the angel, How will this be since I do not know a man?

(35) And answering, the angel said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you, and on account of this the Holy One being born of you will be called Son of God.

(36) And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth! She also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month to her who was called barren;

(37) for not will be impossible with God every thing.

(38) And Mariam (Mary) said, Behold, the slave woman of the Lord! May it be to me according to your word. And the angel departed from her.

(39) And rising up in these days, Mariam (Mary) went into the hill country with haste to a city of Judah.

(40) And she entered into the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.

(41) And it happened, as Elizabeth heard Mariam’s (Mary’s) greeting, the babe in her womb leaped, and Elizabeth was filled of the Holy Spirit.

(42) And she cried out with a loud voice and said, Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

(43) And why is this to me that the mother of my Lord comes to me?

(44) For behold, as the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the babe in my womb leaped in exultation.

(45) And blessed is she believing, because there will be a completion to the things spoken to her from the Lord.

In Luke 1:26-45, we read the exact month of Jesus's conception (in the 6th month of the Jewish Calendar) that gives us an idea of the month when Jesus was born. The Jewish Calendar starts by end of March to beginning April (March/April). Assuming a 9 months pregnancy you can do the arithmetic to find the month of birth of Jesus. Whether it is the 6th month of the Jewish Calendar or of the Julian Calendar or of the Gregorian Calendar, the birth of Jesus after 9 months of pregnancy could not have been in December. Period. Why do people celebrate Jesus's birth on the 25th of December, considering such accuracy given in Luke 1:26? Moreover, if we would know the exact day of the birth of Jesus, a true Christian would not celebrate it because there is no commandment of God or of the Apostles instructing to remember His birthday.

Mary visited her cousin while she had not given birth to John the Baptist yet. Elizabeth had 3 more months left in the pregnancy when Mary was impregnated. Still, it is impossible that Jesus could have been born in December.
