TODDBROOK

Toddbrook House. Sent in by Gill Marriott

Thought you might be interested in the attached photos of what is now Toddbrook House on Whaley Lane. The pictures show the original house called Isca (or possibly Anisca) and were sent to us in 2011 by a lady called Leonore Saunders from Winnipeg, Canada, who was the daughter of Leonard and Alice Gladwell and was born in the house in 1925.

Comment by G. Jackson.

The house used to be called Isca when Mr. & Mrs. Ragdale lived there. They kept goats and had I seem to remember a crocodile skin covering a wall in the house. Later it was converted into a nursing home and re-named Anisca. I never knew it to be Todbrook House. Mr Ragdale was manager/director/owner??? of The Botany Bleach Works at Horwich End. Mrs. Ragdale ran (I Believe) the local RSPCA branch on Chapel Road.

There are Ragdale children still living in the WB area.
