I am certain this is one of Ferodo's lorries decorated for the Chapel Carnival - my mother & step-father both worked there and I recall 2 of the names on the photo John Hall & Mr Gwilliam as having also worked there.

As far as I can make out, this is a Sentinel DG4 steam lorry, designed to carry a payload of 6-7 tons and built in the 1930s.

An unknown location. Now identified as Victoria Street, Craigellachie, Scotland. Why it is in this album we do not know !

I guess this is John Hartle!

Despite me only having a limited knowledge of racing motorcycles, I am certain that the rider sat on the Manx Norton, is that very fine Scottish rider Alistair King. Who rode for Eric Bowers after the departure of John Hartle.

You could be right Clark. The helmet is not John Hartle's

Whaley Bridge Pottery. This is approximately 4 inches square.
