Big Analysis of Muons in CMS

Explore physics on a fundamental Level!!!

This activity is based on the Particle Physics Masterclass that would have occurred last month. It is designed so that students can still do some cool physics with REAL particle physics data. Or...some Big Analysis of Muons in CMS.

Your role will be to partner up with a friend, learn a few basics about particle physics, analyze real data, and share those results with students across the country.

  1. You will need to work with a partner on this project.

2. Watch two you tube videos to familiarize with the standard model and the LHC

Choose either standard model talk A or B

3. Watch the guest speaker on Wednesday at 3pm on Zoom details to be provided)

4. Watch the 4 training screencast videos on:

You may use your own video conference to work together or you can use the zoom link that I will provide.

I will be available on the provided zoom link:

    • Thursday and Friday 10:15 am to 11:15 am

Data Analysis MUST be completed by 1:30 pm on Friday!!!!

6. Attend the Video Conference to see the results Friday at 3pm on Zoom (details to be provided)

Link is on the google classroom.
