Tutoring volunteers assist children weekly with their academic needs. The program works with several local agencies to provide quality tutoring to children all over the Champaign-Urbana area. This project allows students to offer their time and services to make a difference in a young person’s life. This year, Gizelle hopes that the tutoring project gets more recognition and has exciting volunteer oppurtunities that get more members involved with the project. Gizelle wants to have events that partner with local schools to help kids have more access to tutoring.

Why I love VIP: "I love VIP because I got to connect with so many people that also share the same interests as me. Being a ESL tutor through VIP has been one of the highlights of my time at UIUC. I got to meet and work with so many people from many different backgrounds."
Why is my project the best: "The tutoring project is the best because you are able to work with people of all ages, from kids as young as 5 or 6 to adults over 50 years old. Through tutoring you are able to connect with people of different backgrounds and work in different areas around the Champaign-Urbana community."
