Rachel's vision for the environmental project is to create opportunities that not only make a positive impact on campus and the community but also inspire students to take sustainability into their own lives. She wants her events to be both hands-on and educational, so that volunteers walk away knowing they made a difference and gained tools to continue making one. Rachel hopes to organize events that collaborate with local organizations that focus on environmental conservation, but would also love to bring in creative projects like upcycling or compost workshops that make sustainability fun and approachable for everyone.

Why VIP: "I love VIP because it gives me the chance to make a direct impact in the community while connecting with other students who share the same passion for service. Being part of VIP has helped me grow as a leader and has shown me how small efforts, when combined, can create meaningful change."
Why Environmental: "My project is the best because it creates a direct and visible impact on both the campus and the Champaign-Urbana community. Environmental initiatives don't just help people in the moment; they build long-term habits that improve our shared spaces and promote sustainability for future students. It empowers students to take action on one of the most important challenges of our time: caring for the environment."
