Past Student Perspective Artwork:
Feel free to discuss with a partner/small group:
What do you see that is successful? What do you like? What did they do to experiment or go beyond expectations? What materials did they work with and how successful where they in making perspective a focus? How many perspectives do you see in each image? Which are realistic perspectives? Which play with an array of perspectives?
Take 5-10 mins to explore these student examples and click into their Digital Portfolios to learn about their process.

Let's Dive into Todays Activities:
Step 1: (10 mins) Learn a little about Kim Jung Gi
Artist Focus #1: Kim Jung Gi
Artist Inspiration: Kim Jung Gi
Kim Jung Gi (7 February 1975 – 3 October 2022) was a South Korean illustrator, cartoonist, and manhwa artist. He was famous for his large, highly detailed illustrations, ink and brush artistic style, and skill at drawing from memory. Kim could complete his drawings entirely from his imagination, without the use of sketches, visual references, or other preparatory aids, and often used exotic forms of perspective, such as curvilinear perspective.
How many different perspectives do you think you can see in this image?
Make a mental note of your estimate, you will get the answer later in class.
Where are the vanishing points/horizon lines in each section that you found?
Note how seamlessly these different perspectives are combine together. This is what you will do in your work only with architecture.
I am aware there are some "not-school-appropriate" language in his works. This is apart of art appreciation, sometimes content requires maturity to appreciate.
What view points do you see in these images? Low viewpoint? High viewpoint? Explore how he plays with vanishing points, 1-2-3-4-5 pt perspectives. Can you tell which perspective is the main focus on the images below?
Step 2: (10 mins)
Review 1 pt perspective and learn about a few new concepts that help create interesting works of art
Ask yourself, "How do I see this represented in Kim Jung Gi's own style?" "How might I also borrow inspiration from this style of perspective application and drawing." While watching the video below.

Step 3 (20 mins) Learn more about a unique-take on perspective drawing in the video below
TAKE NOTES AS YOU WATCH - Submit these sketches/notes on your Digital Portfolio
Step 4: (20 mins)
Artist Focus #2: David Hockney
Take brief notes on David Hockney and his unique style of perspective drawing
Bonus: If you are interested in learning more, check out Nathan Walsh, another artist who plays with perspective. Explore his works for further inspiration
Step 5: HOMEWORK (Remaining Time)
Bring to class 6 digital or printed PHOTOS (3 and 3) for two potential combined images with DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES.
Example (3 photos + 3 photos = 6 total images):
Option 1: Photo 1 - 1pt perspective low viewpoint, Photo 2 - 1 pt perspective straight on, Photo 3 - 2 pt perspective
Option 2: Photo 1 - birdseye 1 point perspective, Photo 2 - 2 pt perspective, Photo 3 - straight on 1 pt perspective
Consider:
Theme, variety, content - how will the images work together to create 1 unified image
Example Images:
Top Left Image - 2 pt perspective (high)
Top Right image - 1 pt perspective (low)
Bottom Right Image - 1 pt perspective (birds eye view)
Combined together to make a unified city-scape.
*Still UNSURE what to do for homework? Consider going back to the top and looking at previous student examples of photos they explored to get a clearer idea.
