Biography

There are people out there that just want to see the world burn. Ragnarok's birth came about because of one of those people. A very rich madman wanted to bring forth a prophesied apocalypse, in the form of a legend he called “The Four Rapidash of the End Times.” 

To achieve this goal, he hired a group of scientists and sent them to work on the project. The scientists, not wanting to get killed by their own creations, devised a plot to keep themselves safe. The four Rapidash would be created, but they would be tempered and balanced by another quartet, dubbed Sacrificial Gogoats by the scientists. 

The four Rapidash to be created were meant to embody aspects of Plague, War, Famine, and Death, so the Gogoats were designed to counteract them and embody aspects of Health, Peace, Harvest, and Life. To make sure some kind of bond existed between the opposing and balancing forces, it was decided that they would be made related to one another, having all eight be grandchildren of a single Sawsbuck, named Zeus. 

Zeus fathered eight different Deerling, each of which was genetically altered and fused with an appropriate species of Pokemon based on what was desired, then evolved into Sawsbucks. The youngest two were fused with an Alolan Marowak and Alolan Vulpix, respectively. A Rapidash named Odin and a Gogoat named Jupiter were used to father two lines of Ponyta and Skiddo, each having four children who were then treated the same way as the Deerlings. The youngest of each group was fused with Houndour and Snover, respectively, before evolving. 

Finally, the final step. Eight children were created. The firstborn was Plague, Xolotl, then his balance, Health, Hathor. War, Ares, and Peace, Serenity, were born shortly after, followed by Famine, Balor, and Harvest, Gaia. And finally, from the pairing of Sawsbuck/Alolan Marowak and Rapidash/Houndour, Death, Ragnarok was born. He was a Ponyta/Deerling, with the Skull Head and Ghost typing of Alolan Marowak and the coloration, horns, and Dark typing of Houndour. His balance, Life, Eden, was born, her parents being Sawsbuck/Alolan Ninetails and Gogoat/Abomasnow. She was a Skiddo/Deerling, inheriting the sharp wintery needles of Snover instead of the usual soft Skiddo fur, and the fairy typing of Alolan Ninetails. 

They worked well as balances. Although technically cousins, they were raised together and developed bonds more like siblings, calling one another brothers and sisters. As the brothers developed their abilities, the sisters were able to balance them. Xolotl began to expel horrid fumes that made any human who inhaled them sick, although drinking the water that flowed around Hathor's neck could cure them. Ares was extremely aggressive, especially towards humans, and Serenity was the only one who could calm him.  Balor was constantly hungry, and any food he came in contact with would wither away, except for the berries that Gaia grew on her body. Ragnarok was intended to kill anything that came anywhere near him, with Eden’s presence contracting that effect, but he never developed his intended "death aura".

Ragnarok didn’t enjoy his existence. In order to bring about the brother’s various effects, they were put through grueling and painful procedures, and Ragnarok had it the worst because he seemingly refused to develop his ‘power’. Fearing it would get even worse and not wanting to go through whatever the scientists had planned to bring about their sponsor’s goals, Ragnarok brought up the topic of escape to his brothers. The one small mercy given was that the eight young pokemon were housed together, able to socialise and communicate. The brothers didn’t want to bring about the end of times that they were apparently made to do, so they agreed on a plan. Xolotl would sneak into the ventilation system and poison the air. Ares would use his strength to melt and break the locks. The younger sisters followed after their brothers. Serenity used her pacification aura to calm any humans they encountered, able to confuse them for long enough that they could sneak past. 

It worked! Mostly. In the chaos of the escape, the youngsters were separated. Ragnarok managed to keep track of Eden and stay with her, but lost sight of his brothers and other sisters. Now alone in a wilderness they had no idea how to survive in, Rag and Eden struggled for several years before they stumbled upon the Hideout. 

There was a fight between several Team Rocket recruits and Team Galactic mons, and Rag rushed out of the woods and began to fight the Galactic mons, rightfully assessing that they seemed like the aggressors in the skirmish. Eden quickly started using her healing ability to help the injured recruits, and the fight was soon finished. As gratitude for helping them defend their territory, RH accepted Eden and Ragnarok into their ranks, the pair quickly finding ways to help out, with Eden in the gardens and farms helping grow food for everyone, and Ragnarok assisting in what was generally referred to in-house as ‘procurement’ but generally worked out to stealing from humans. 

Ragnarok struggled to really adapt to his new home, unlike his sister. He made a few friends, but they didn't last long, his temper and anger issues often driving them away. He tried various hobbies, but was prone to accidentally breaking things. For a while, it seemed his only skill was in destruction. Then, he was introduced to video games. He still broke controllers, of course, but he really enjoyed the creative aspects of more open-world games. He loved Stardew Valley, Minecraft, Breath of the Wild... He finally made a friend, a Kecleon mix named Rainbow. They were pretty close, but Rainbow had to leave the hideout for unspecified reasons. 

Time passed. Ragnarok advanced to Silver Rank and evolved into Sawsbuck/Rapidash. He continued to play video games, help steal supplies to keep RH functioning, and generally keeping to himself.
