Biography

Opal was born on a cozy little farm. Their mother was a Dragonair, their father was unknown - given the family who owned the Dragonair didn't have any eeveelutions on the farm, everyone just assumed the mother had found a mate out in the woods nearby. Opal never learned the truth, seeing as she was sold to a rich person when she was still quite young. 

The reason Opal was sold, of course, was because she is shiny. A highly valuable trait among Pokémon, it made Opal worth a tidy sum, which allowed the owners of the ranch to get out of debt. Opal was taken to a large home, one belonging to a human who trained their Pokémon for shows. Opal enjoyed the training, and the competitions, although they were too young to participate in the real shows. They noticed on Pokémon was particularly loved by the humans, that being a Shiny Espeon/Articuno named Chrysanthemum. The older pokemon acted as a bit of a mentor to Opal, making sure the young Eevee/Dratini was safe and knew where things were around the place.

Some years passed of enjoying this life, but then something happened. Opal didn't know how it happened, but somehow a fire started in the house. There was a lot of panicking, and in the chaos, Opal was caught in the fire. A beam crashed down on top of him, and although he was able to mostly dodge it by rolling onto a burning carpet, his foot was caught by the beam. The carpet seared Opal's face, leaving a painful scar, and she would later loose her foot when doctors realised it was too damaged to save. 

Opal was, however, saved from further damage by a blast of an ice move, cooling the flames long enough for a familiar figure to save them. A shiny legendary. Chrysanthemum (Opal calls him Papa Mum) pulled Opal out of the fire and to safety. Mum rescued a bunch of mons that night, but only two ended up sticking with him, both children unable to find other folks to care for them. One was Opal, the other was a Tauros/Sylveon (also shiny) named Bluebell. The trio traveled together, and Chris officially 'adopted' the two youngsters, becoming their dad. 

Eventually they wandered into the territory of Team Rocket, and Opal wasn't sure how exactly Papa Mum negotiated their stay there, but does know that Rocket Hideout is the place where he's felt the safest in a long time.
