Over the past ten years, being an active member of the Tudor Hall 4-H Club has shaped who I am in more ways than I can count. Holding several leadership positions including President, Vice President, Treasurer, Historian, Reporter, and Sergeant-at-Arms has given me a deep appreciation for service, responsibility, and the power of teamwork. Each role came with its own challenges and rewards, and through them, I’ve learned how to lead, support, and grow within a community that means so much to me.
As President, I was able to learn how to write agendas, lead meetings using Robert's rules of order, and create engaging activities to keep our members excited and engaged in all parts of our meetings. This has shown me how to communicate the same task to different age levels and also find activities that can involve kids from 5 all the way to 18.
As Vice President, I had the privilege of stepping into a leadership role that required flexibility, initiative, and clear communication. Whether it was helping to plan meetings, filling in for the president, or coordinating club activities, I learned how to support others while keeping things organized and moving forward. This role taught me how to take charge while still listening to others and creating space for everyone's ideas.
Serving as Treasurer helped me develop strong financial and organizational skills. Keeping accurate records, managing club dues, and making sure our funds were handled responsibly taught me the importance of transparency and accountability. It was rewarding to know I played a part in ensuring our club had the resources we needed for events, trips, and projects.
My time as Historian and Reporter gave me the opportunity to capture and preserve the memories of our club, something I came to appreciate more and more each year. From taking photos to writing newsletters and documenting our achievements, I loved highlighting the spirit and accomplishments of our members. Looking back on those moments has reminded me just how much we’ve all grown together.
Finally, as Sergeant-at-Arms, I helped keep order during meetings and made sure things ran smoothly and respectfully. It might seem like a behind-the-scenes role, but it taught me that leadership isn’t always about being in the spotlight it’s also about helping others stay focused and creating a space where everyone feels heard and respected.
Altogether, my decade in 4-H and these leadership roles have given me skills that will stay with me for life. I’m proud to have contributed to the Tudor Hall 4-H Club in so many ways and am grateful for all the experiences, friendships, and lessons along the way.
